I got a letter in the mail yesterday from Ramsaur Law Office regarding an old debt, and I'm not sure how to handle it. It looks like they're based out of California but have offices in a few different states. The letter mentions they might take legal action if I don't respond, which is pretty concerning.
I've been reading up on my rights and found that they have to provide proof that the debt is actually mine if I ask for validation. I'm worried about ignoring it and ending up with a default judgment or wage garnishment, but I also don't want to pay something I'm not sure I owe.
Has anyone else dealt with this firm before? How did you handle it? Did you request debt validation, hire an attorney, or settle with them? I'm trying to figure out my next steps and would really appreciate hearing about others' experiences.
