I’m interested in understanding how people distinguish normal tiredness from excessive daytime sleepiness.
Feeling tired occasionally seems quite normal, especially after a poor night's sleep, a stressful day, or a change in routine. But persistent sleepiness during the daytime seems different. It can potentially affect concentration, work, studying, driving, or even simple daily activities.
I’ve also read that daytime sleepiness can sometimes be associated with underlying sleep problems. Things such as inconsistent sleep schedules, poor sleep quality, sleep disorders, medications, and other health factors may all play a role.
What I find difficult is knowing when someone should start looking into the underlying cause rather than simply trying to sleep longer.
For people who have experienced persistent daytime sleepiness, what helped you identify the possible reason? Did keeping a sleep diary, improving your sleep routine, or discussing the symptoms with a healthcare professional help?

I think discussions like this are useful because tiredness can mean different things for different people. Personal experiences can be helpful, but medical conditions and treatment decisions are better discussed with a qualified healthcare professional.
