Tips for Installing Front Lace Wigs at Home
-
Getting flawless front lace wigs installed by yourself is all about the prep work. The secret to making it look natural is getting your own hair completely flat. Braid it down small, pop on a wig cap that matches your skin tone, and you’re ready to start.
First, clean your hairline with rubbing alcohol. Any leftover makeup or oil will ruin your grip, so don't skip this. Put the wig on to check the fit, and then trim the extra lace. Here's a quick tip: cut in a jagged, zig-zag motion instead of a straight line. Straight edges stand out, but uneven ones blend right in.
Next, put down a thin layer of your glue or holding spray just in front of your hairline. Wait a minute for it to get clear and tacky—if it’s still wet, it’s going to slide. Carefully press the lace into the adhesive using the back of a comb. To really lock it in, tie an elastic melt band around your edges for about 15 minutes. It melts the lace right into your skin for an undetectable finish.
