2048: I Thought I Could Beat My Last Score

I opened 2048 during a short break and expected to finish a quick round. I already knew how the number tiles worked, so I did not spend much time thinking about the rules. I started moving tiles in different directions and merging the matching numbers. The first few combinations came easily. The board still had plenty of space, and almost every move seemed useful.

Then I made a mistake that changed the whole round. I moved my largest tile away from the corner where I had been keeping it. The smaller numbers began to spread across the board, and I could no longer combine them in the order I wanted. I had to slow down and look at the full layout instead of chasing the next easy merge. That was when 2048 became much more interesting than I expected.
