Texture release is an appropriate hair treatment for Afro and curly hair, but whether it is good for you will depend on the state of your hair and what you want from your style. The treatment is used to relax tight coils in your hair and leave it more manage, but not to lose the texture completely.

If you have 4A, 4B, or 4C hair, it will help you to detangle and style your hair, but the process is still a chemical one, which means that you need to treat it with caution. In case your hair is already fragile, dry, and damage, the procedure might put too much strain on it.

It’s always best to speak with an experienced stylist who understands textured hair before getting the treatment. They can assess your hair and perform a strand test to see how it may respond.

If your main goal is simply easier styling, make sure you understand the maintenance involved before deciding. Healthy hair should always come first—whether you choose to keep your natural curls, loosen your texture, or try a different style.
