Didn't hurt right away, but it looked bad and I got worried it would get worse if I ignored it.

If you're dealing with the same thing, here's what I found out:

First, don't panic. A small chip usually isn't a dental emergency, but a cracked tooth can turn into a bigger problem fast if you leave it alone. Cracks can let bacteria in, and that can lead to infection or a root canal down the road. So even if it doesn't hurt yet, it's worth getting checked.

What actually helped me:

I rinsed my mouth with warm water right away to clean the area
Avoided chewing on that side of my mouth
Called a dentist here in Dunwoody the same day instead of waiting

What the dentist told me:
Turns out chipped or cracked tooth repair is pretty simple in most cases. Depending on how bad the crack is, they can:

Smooth out small chips in one visit
Use bonding (basically a tooth-colored filling) for minor cracks
Recommend a crown if the crack is deeper or the tooth is weak

For me, it was just bonding took less than an hour, no pain, and it looks completely normal now.

One thing I'd tell anyone in Dunwoody dealing with this: don't wait it out hoping it'll be fine. I almost did, and I'm glad I didn't. A small crack is way easier (and cheaper) to fix than a tooth that's gotten infected or broken further.

If anyone else has been through this, curious what treatment you got bonding, crown, or something else?
